What is High School Drama!?

High School Drama! is a hilarious new card game published by Shifting Skies Games to bridge that gap between casual gamers and traditional gamers. You play a student in high school and you're trying to get your clique to take over the school.

Hook up with other students, spread vicious lies and rumors about your rivals and pretend to bond with your fake friends. Earn yearbook signatures by going to special events like homecoming and sci-fi movie openings or by earning student standouts like cutest couple and most artistic. Each player controls one main student but quickly forms a growing clique by hooking up with other students and organizations. Everyone starts as freshmen, but only the player who has the most yearbook signatures at the end of graduation wins!

Once you've selected your main character, the object of the game is to build the strongest clique possible and you'll use this clique to fight for the only resource that matters in high school—your reputation as measured by how many yearbook signatures you have by the time you graduate! Will your clique rule the school or will you just flunk out?

Players take turns alternating drawing up actions into their hands and then playing them (a game mechanic called "drafting"). You can choose either a Hookup, Breakup, Bond or a special Event card. Once everyone has their hand complete, you play your actions. You can play Hookups to make new friends or join school clubs (this allows you to expand your clique). Maybe you want to start hanging out with the Goth Chick or try out for Varisty Football. Playing the Bond card let's you spend time with your new friends and strengthen your relationships (fortify your clique) so you can win yearbook signatures at the end of each year.

Along the way, your carefully crafted plans for popularity will be undermined, backstabbed, broken up, wrung through the rumor mill, exposed on the internet and stolen. Your character will watch helplessly as their rivals use underhanded methods to sabotage friendships and break the carefully tended relationships in your clique.

And then you will do it right back to them! Of course, trash talking is encouraged!
